Modern American & World History Themed Literature

Nikole Christensen
Recommended Grade Levels: 7-8 (9th grade welcome)

This course will be taught in tandem with Middle School Modern American and World History. Students may elect to take only the literature course, but it is advised to take both the history and literature course to get the fullest understanding of the period. Using book selections from the Beautiful Feet Modern American and World History package, students will learn about the period of history from the mid-19th century through modern day through the stories that we will read.

Students may expect weekly reading assignments along with reading response questions for homework. Periodic writing assignments based on books we're reading will focus on themes, character analysis and development, and historic events. Literary essay writing will be modeled for students and developed throughout the year.
